TOM BAXTER AT GREAT ESCAPE
We caught up with Tom when he played in Brighton to find out how life (and the record label’s) been treating him over the past few months!
Since we last met up, Tom’s had a few problems with his voice which hopefully is all behind him now. The success of his Album “Skybound” has kept him touring and too busy to write any new songs for the next Album. But he has plans for a film project and some more amazing Artwork to accompany the next Album. We don’t do reviews on SMHTP, but we’ll make an exception just to say the gig we saw Tom play at the Hanbury Ball room last year was amazing. So If you get the chance to see Tom play live, take it, you won’t be disappointed.
We also caught Royworld and a few other bands doing thing round Brighton too. It’s tricky not to sound smug about Brighton sometimes, but it really is a great place to be if you like good music!
FEATURED ARTIST
Sarabeth Tucek
Sarabeth Tucek is the very definition of understated. She’s physically small and her voice is quiet, but it still has the power to cut right through you – as anyone who heard her debut single ‘Something For You’ will testify. Released last February on the tiny indie label Sonic Cathedral it became a word-of-mouth success, being crowned record of the week on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6Music radio show and raved about everywhere from Playlouder, where it was made single of the week, to NME, who summed up their Radar profile of Sarabeth by saying, “If you don’t think ‘Something For You’ is the most beautiful record released this year, then you might as well fuck off and die
