SOHO DOLLS INTERVIEW
SMHTP caught up with the Soho Dolls surrounded by flowers in the depths of the Barfly venue in Brighton.
Their music’s been described as “A futuro-Dickensian sexual-terror dome” by the NME, which the band liked and agreed with. Their new album “Ribbed music for the numb generation” was produced by Robert Harder, who’s worked with a wide variety of artists such as Pete Doherty and Babyshambles in the past. So the band felt they were in very good hands all round.
Watch the video to hear why Matt learnt to play his double bass in double quick time and how Phil Collins, air drumming and “Easy lover” was an inspiration for picking up those sticks …well we’ve all been there.
FEATURED ARTIST
Joni Mitchell
When the dust settles, Joni Mitchell may stand as the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century. Uncompromising and iconoclastic, Mitchell confounded expectations at every turn; restlessly innovative, her music evolved from deeply personal folk stylings into pop, jazz, avant-garde, and even world music, presaging the multicultural experimentation of the 1980s and 1990s by over a decade.
