SEAN COX FOO FIGHTERS GUITAR TECH INTERVIEW
Sean Cox FOO FIGHTERS guitar tech interview
Have you ever wondered how a roadie gets a great job like touring with the Foo Fighters? We fought our way through the crowded queues at a sold-out gig in Brighton to ask, Sean, Cox Guitar Tech for the Foo Fighters, that very question.
In between some good raucous rock n’ roll touring tales, Sean explains about the ‘incestuous’ nature of the music industry and how it’s who you know that makes a difference.
In a nutshell his advice to anyone that wants to become a roadie is (un-conventional at first!) then get a good grounding of contacts within the industry - this apparently makes the task of finding a job a whole lot easier. He hastens to add: “If you’re pretty good at what you do then that’s a plus too.”
SMHTP crew member and interviewer Zak Flannery, quickly got into the spirit off the Foo’s amazing gig. Dave, having launched into a crunching rendition of “MONKEY WRENCH”, would have seen Zak hurl his 6ft 3 frame into the air and crowd surf within breathing distance of his hero. The angry bouncer who grabbed Zak and threw him straight out of the gig wasn’t so impressed. Zak, although gutted to miss the gig, managed to re-live his moment of rock glory when the whole gig was filmed by the BBC for Radio 1. We’re trying to bring you that classic piece of SMHTP footage at this very moment….watch this space!
