Foals
Foals are a five-piece dance-punk band originally from Oxford. After extensive touring throughout the country Foals were quickly snapped up by Transgressive Records.
Their unique combination of indie with elements from techno and math rock got critics going crazy and they were quickly noted for their “high level of technical ability.”
Foals formed in 2005, band members include Yannis Philippakis, Jack Bevan, Jimmy Smith, Edwin Congreave, and Walter Gerver. Foals members Yannis and Jack were previously in a math rock band called The Edmund Fitzgerald, but before long the pair claimed that “things had become too serious” so they decided to split up and to start having some “fun” with Foals.
Dissimilar to many other bands, Foals have undeniably been hesitant about exposing their demos to a wider audience. Due to the erratic nature of the song writing process the band chose to expose their music only via their Myspace site.
The restrictive process seems to have paid off and since then several major television appearances followed including a performance on the Channel 4 music show Transmission, as well as an appearance on the hit Channel 4 show Skins, which aired exclusively on Myspace in August 2007.
Foals debut full-length album produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio is due for release soon. Foals continue to tour the length and breadth of the UK, consequently the bands popularity has increased and they are now scheduled to support Bloc Party on several dates in December, including venues in Glasgow, Manchester and London.
