Nathan

As the Musical Director at SMHTP, Nathan keeps his rather talented eye on the quality of all things musical on the site.  He also writes the lessons and plays various instruments throughout.

Nathan’s love of music was sparked from a very young age.  At 5, he learnt to play piano and drums.  At 13, Nathan was already gigging and doing sessions and by 15 he had picked up yet another instrument and begun to play bass.  Nathan dreams of working with great talents such as Quincy Jones and Stevie Wonder. Although he’s  already worked with a couple of class acts including John Jorgenson (ex Elton John band), Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals/ Candylion) and Ged Lynch (Peter Gabriel’s drummer). 

Nathan has also been a member of the European Youth Brass Band and the Welsh Youth Jazz Orchestra.  He’s even won a highly renowned drum competition in America, before being disqualified for being British! which he thought was pretty cool.  Nathan is affectionately known at SMHTP as the Welsh wizard (Welsh top musician) check him out on Youtube playing bass at the London guitar show 2007.   You can also check out Nathan & his band Babysteps

He thinks the concept of SMHTP is ground breaking.  “It’s a great idea” he adds. “It can help beginners and more advanced players alike. I’m looking forward to using it myself.”
