DOWNLOAD ISSUE WITH SAFARI: MAC
Users Downloading Files on Macs using Safari will experience problems where the download link fails to open correctly. The download view will display what looks like a corrupted text page instead of downloading the file.
This is a bug with Safari being unable to associate the downloaded file with an application.
The easiest solution is to use Firefox as your browser to avoid this issue.
Alternatively, there is a workable solution on Safari as follows:
1. If you right-click (ctrl+click) on the page link and select the ‘Download Linked File’ option. This will enable the file to be downloaded but will add a .txt file extension to it.
2. Once downloaded, please click on the Desktop to select the 'Finder' bar on the top of the screen. Select ‘Preferences’ in the Finder tab on the Top Menu bar (not system preferences).
3. Select the ‘Advanced tab’ and tick the ‘Show All File Extensions’ box.
4. Locate the downloaded file and click on the name once to rename it. Be careful to click again to remove the highlight on the entire name and simply remove the .txt extension.
5. When clicking 'OK' be sure to confirm that you wish to change the file to a .smhtp file from .txt file.
